Pelham Rugby Club
Formed in 2007 by Mark Connors and Tom Kleinberger with a summer camp at Pelham Bay Park, the Pelham Rugby Club has come a long way in it’s short existence! Whilst rugby has a strong presence in the Pelham area with the NYAC men’s team competing in the premier national competition, the sport of rugby is quite unique. The 16 kids that participated in the summer program has paved the way for more students to experience the excitement and adrenalin of flag rugby. In 2008, after a 9 month lay off, the same participants took part in a spring after school program at Spring Rd. The season was a huge success, with both middle and elementary teams competing in the NYC Mayor’s Rugby Cup festival at Columbia University. This event attracted 25 teams from 5 boroughs and the junior team were crowned Mayor’s Cup champions, defeating Epiphany School from Manhattan in a nail biter. The cup now resides in Pelham and can be often seen displayed at practices on the registration table! |

GREEN BAY MAVERICKS YOUTH RUGBY
High school rugby club made up of 9-12 graders from eastside of Green Bay and beyond. Started in 1995 by Dick Shell, The Mavericks compete in The Bay Division of The Northeastern Wisconsin Youth Rugby League. Our philosophy is to teach the game of rugby to high school aged youth so that they will want to continue playing after graduating. We prepare them to be competitive on the field while at the same time teaching them about team work, unselfishness, sportsmanship, discipline and respect. |
